Redundancy

In a sentence or phrase, a redundancy is a use of more words than necessary to convey a simple meaning. Think of redundancies as word overflows.

The fact that the dead are relatively few in number makes it possible to single them out.

In actual fact, I only did some of those things.

On Tuesday, key NASA leaders met to discuss future plans and possible changes, Goodman confirmed.

Each of these sentences has an element that can be removed with no loss of meaning.
